Self Actualization Maslow And The Human Potential...

Behavior Leading to Self-Actualization: Maslow identified behaviors that he believed lead to self-actualization which many relate to the experiences and choices Wright Performative supports. â€Å"Experiencing life like a child, with full absorption and concentration,† relates to the One Decision to live life to the fullest and our level two of the Wright Developmental Model, living out the Existential principle of play. Maslow’s behavior of â€Å"Trying new things instead of sticking to safe paths,† is a One Decision I have often gravitated towards when taking risks and stepping into the unknown. Jessica Grogan concludes that Maslow and the human potential thinkers alike began to formulate the notion that, â€Å"a healthy individual must stand apart from her culture. That she must transcend social expectations, and forge a path through the wilderness.† Maslow was optimistic with the culture commenting, â€Å"Perhaps we shall soon be able to use as our guide and model the fully growing and self-fulfilling human being.† The new guide is a person tapping into her capabilities, expressing her inner nature freely, rather than it being â€Å"warped, suppressed, or denied,† writes Maslow. Maslow was involved with a pipeline of thinkers who shared intellectual ideas shaping the culture. Erich Fromm, Gordon Allport, Rollo May, Sidney Jourard and Carl Rogers were among many in which I will only touch on a few.
